Fall is the best time to ride bikes...

At least I think so, it's not too hot, it's not too cold. It's just right. And just in time for fall bike riding, here are some really cool fair trade bike baskets that have just arrived in the shop!

Hi ho, hi ho, back to school they go.

I am not one of the moms that rejoice when the kids head back to school. I like having them home with me, however I am not the homeschool type. Thought about it, still think about it...hmmm. While I ponder, here are my loves!  I hope everyone out there has a SAFE, fun, incredible growing journey of a year. Peace.

Artist Spotlight:Melissa Kelly

Melissa Kelly has loved and worn jewelry since she was old enough to walk, and She has been making jewelry in some form or another since elementary school. Her interest really piqued in her last year at college, when she chose to take a jewelry design class as an elective. She began making jewelry with the goal of starting her own business since then. After working for other jewelry designers for 3 years, Melissa finally took the plunge in 2010, starting Be In the Moment.

When Melissa is not at work making new pieces, you may find her singing traditional Irish or other folk songs at a pub somewhere, acting on stage, or hanging out with her dog, Grover.  Melissa sells on Etsy and at Bungalow live in Berlin MD.

Fantastic day on our private island...

Ok, so it's not exactly our own private island. However it it takes quite a bit of maneuvering in and out of skinny marsh guts to get to this secluded, sea shell haven. We arrived yesterday at 8am and stayed til 4. We truly didn't run into another sole! Love this place.

Fair trade.

I was brought up by a mother whom some say has hippie ideas.  She taught my brother, sister and I not to take the earth for granted. 'Renewable' resources are not unlimited. Everyone, no matter how different, are still people. All living creatures great and small deserve respect. I have taken her ideas to heart and try to teach my children the same principals and in fact don't find them hippie-ish at all! If more people stopped acting so entitled, slowed down just a tad and really looked at the big picture...well I think think the world would certainly be a better place.  In honor of world fair trade day (last Saturday)...here are some jewelry pictures that were ethically purchased through fair trade practices. All of these bracelets not only supports  mother in Africa, but they are made of recycled plastic!

Spring fever.

I have an awful case of spring fever today. Between these beautiful vintage table linens, the sun and highs in the 60's how could you not?! It's amazing out, hope your able to get out and enjoy the day. I heard there is a chance of snow tonight, but I'm ignoring that for now.
